It was 1958 when a handful of skiers climbed Locke Mountain and cut Sunday River’s first trails down through the Maine woods. Since then, their spirit of exploration and adventure inspired the generations that followed as those trails grew into a network that spans eight mountain peaks.
Sunday River is now known for being one of the largest ski resorts in the East, complete with slopeside lodging, exceptional dining experiences, a championship golf course, and more. Where will you explore first?
EASTERN PEAKS
STEEP & DEEP
White Heat has long held its place as Sunday River’s signature double diamond – big, bold and straight down the fall line. But that’s just the beginning. No matter which way you head off the open summit you'll find a mix of steeps, trees and hidden pockets of snow. Make sure you’re locked in and ready for a challenge.

As home to Sunday River’s first trails, Locke combines old school New England terrain with a modern twist. With two race trails cutting a straight line from the summit to the base surrounded by rolling terrain and narrow paths, Locke satisfies everyone from weekend warriors to world champions.

The hub of the Sunday River universe all winter and headquarters for spring skiing, Barker provides access to everything the resort has to offer. Whether you’re running laps for maximum vertical or sample a smorgasbord of varied terrain, Barker is where the Sunday River experience begins.

CORDUROY & CRUISERS
Nestled dead center in the Sunday River range, Spruce Peak offers access to a pair of exceptional groomers as well as some tricky steeps. Once you’ve carved up your share of perfect corduroy in the mountain, Spruce is the perfect jumping off point to hit the western peaks.

LEARN & LAUNCH
As the destination for the East’s only Chondola, North Peak home to the resort's terrain parks and the learning area on South Ridge for some great family terrain. Glades. Groomers. Steeps. No matter how you like your skiing and riding, Aurora serves it up. Tucked neatly behind Spruce Peak, Aurora feels a world away from the rest of the resort and offers plenty of room to escape from the world and lose yourself in the moment.

BIG & BOLD
Situated at the far western end of the Sunday River range, Jordan Bowl claim its place as our biggest peak, and most breathtaking destination. With stunning views of Mt. Washington and the Presidential Range, Jordan offers the perfect setting for long, scenic cruisers and expansive glades. Sunday River is currently installing the Jordan 8 chairlift, set to open winter 2022, opening up possibilities for future terrain expansion beyond Jordan Bowl.

The Future of Sunday River
Sunday River 2030 is a decade-long plan for sustainable growth and investments. With many major projects in the works, including plans for the fastest 8-person lift in North America, this plan will serve as the map for a bigger and better Sunday River in the future.
